What’s going on at the Resort
On popular demand we have recently added a non stick-fry pan and will be adding bigger coffee mugs to the villa inventory at the Aruba Ocean Club. We have recently changed the green canvas lining at the Porto Cochere, Pavilion and the walkway to the adjacent hotel. The thermostats in the villas of the Aruba Ocean Club have been replaced with digital thermostats which are set on “72” degrees. We are also changing the thermostats in the villas of the Lighthouse Tower. At the Aruba Ocean Club we will soon start with a two-year project of replacing the AC units in the villas. The current AC’s units have reached their life span and instead of repairing the units each time there is a problem, we will start replacing the units by tower. Need Help Cards are provided in your villas to report any issues or problems right away or even commend special associates during yoru stay. We kindly request our owners to complete this if there are any issues and turn these over for rapid response instead of waiting until check-out. This card will assist our staff in providing you with a problem-free vacation. Pink Door Hangers have been provided as well in your villas. This pink door hanger is to hang outside your door upon check-out. Our maids are able to see this hanger and know that you have checked-out, thereby giving them the opportunity to clean the room right away. This will assist us in having rooms ready on time for the next arrivals.

Resort Pool Towel Procedures
* Pool towels are part of the villa inventory
• We will provide 4 towels in a one-bedroom villa, 8 towels in a two-bedroom villa and 12 twoels in a three-bedroom villa.
• Owners using their lock-out portion are provided with 4 towels.
• Clean pool towels will only be exchanged at the towel hut when you return a dirty one. Please remember that the towel hut attendant can not give you a clean towel if you left it in your room.. In this case, you will have to return to your room to get your towel. This is the only way to control our towel costs. We have have experienced a high number of lost towels in 2006, which goes to the bottom line of our maintenance fees. We thank you for your understanding and kindly request you abide by this policy.
* Pool towels are provided at the Pool Towel Hut
* Pool operation hours: 7.30am to 10pm.
• No Smoking:Smoking is not allowed in and around the pool area. Please refrain from smoking at these areas. Please refer to the non smoking resolution under the board page.

Palapas (beach huts) Reservations
Aruba Ocean Club

1. There will be two types of Palapa reservations at the Aruba Ocean Club – reservations with a fee (advanced) and reservations without a fee (first come first served)
2. The owner/guest may make use of the “advanced” reservations for three (3) days at a time. After the third (3rd) day they can reserve for another three (3) days. The reservations for the “advanced” palapas start at 10:00am every morning and can be made all throughout the day.
3. The rental fee for the Palapas (odd numbers only) is $15.00 (100’s and 200’s) and $10.00 (300’s, 400’s, 500’s, and 600’s). The Aruba Ocean Club Towel Hut Attendant will record the reservation request on the appropriate form indicating the room number, last name of the owner/guest, time of rental and asking the owner/guest to initial the reservation. The Towel Hut Attendant will complete a Palapa reservation card indicating the palapa number and the date. The Towel Hut Attendant will inform the owner/guest that the Palapa Reservation Card should displayed in the holder found on the palapa that they reserved. At the end of the day, the Towel Hut Attendant will take the Palapa Reservation Sheet to the Front Desk at the Aruba Ocean Club to process the room charges.
4. The “first come-first served” palapas have no fee attached to them (even numbers only). The sign-up for the “first come – first served” begins at 7:30am every morning. The Towel Hut Attendant will complete a Palapa reservation card indicating the palapa number and the date. The Towel Hut Attendant will inform the owner/guest that the Palapa Reservation Card should displayed in the holder found on the palapa that they reserved and that there is a 2 hour vacancy policy – any palapa left unattended for more than two (2) hours will be emptied of all towels, and items (2 hour policy LSOP) and returned to the inventory to be given out again.

Special Requests
Many owners inquire about why their special requests, made way in advance of their arrival, are not honored. We cannot always honor these requests due to the high occupancy rates at the Resort year-round. The villa assignment for each day depends on the check-out pattern of that same day and unfortunately, we are not able to honor all requests.

Villa Assignments
Villas are assigned on the day of arrival and are based on the check-out pattern for each particular day and are prioritized in the following order:
-Owners in their owner week
-Home owners exchanging into their home resort
-Any other reservations which includes Marriott Owners, Exchangers, Preview Guests, Rentals, Non-Marriott owners.

Note: There are always situations which affect the above process. In such cases, the Resort team will always try its utmost to assign the villas as fairly as possible.

Assignments are made on the assumption that owners prefer high to low floors and pool view to outside views. When there are more owners than there are “preferred” villa views or locations, the room’s controller looks at each owner’s previous villa assignments to ensure fairness in the rotation. Specific villa/ floor requests are considered within the general principles noted above.

Service Charge

Other establishments on the island may apply this service charge differently, this charge may or may not include gratuity. Please contact the establishment for more details.

Taxi Rates
As in many islands, taxis are not metered in Aruba. They are operated on fixed government rates. The cabs display a rate chart inside the vehicle. For your convenience, a rate sheet for the most used locations is available at the front desk. Prior to embarking on the journey, it is recommended that you and the driver agree on a fee for your travel. Taxis are usually at each hotel waiting to provide service at the lobby entrance. The Bellman, Doorman, Front Desk Agent or the Concierge are always happy to assist. Visitors may choose to summon taxis on the street , but make sure the cab's licence plate reads "TX". Tipping for a taxi driver normally can range between 10 percent and 15 percent of the final fare, but that is not always expected. On Sundays and holidays, $1(USD) to $3(USD) is expected as a tip no matter what the final fare, and on trips taken after midnight, give the driver at least $1(USD). Download taxi rates excel sheet.
